I’m trying to achieve bit-perfect audio on my pi2aes which I recently installed caldera on. Running the newest caldera headless beta release. I ssh into it and check the hw params while playing tracks and everything plays as 24 bit depth. I’ve verified Alsa is sending it straight to the correct hardware device. Also it won’t switch sample rate or bit depth after each track. Loudness, sweet fades off, match sample rate pref is set to 0. Is this implemented yet or is there no per track switching?
If you play a file with 16 bit, there is zero sonic difference between playing it with 24 bit depth vs. 16 bit through a DAC – provided the sample rate doesn’t change.
