I am looking at implementing a Plex setup in a RV campervan using an intel nuc.
I have noticed from a month were I was without internet that Plex eventually locked me out when I was offline for an extended period of time, presumably, because I couldn’t authenticate. I had to access my media directly through UPnP from my server to the TV.
I get locked out of Plex on my LG Tv (Web OS) on my local network instantly when disconnected from the internet, even though I have added the IP range to the Plex server settings.
I get locked out of Plex app on my directly on Server (Qnap ts453a) after a week or so when no internet connectivity.
Is there a way of running plex offline indefinitely or without a login.
Thats basically what clicking the app link on the server does, it just opens a new tab at [SERVER IP]:32400/web/index.html but even that locked me out.
Plex is not made to be operated indefinitely without internet access.
If the server is already set up, you can try and sign it out of its plex.tv account.
This will make it universally available in the local network.
For this to work, you will need to be using Plex client types where you can set the Plex server using its IP address.
Not all Plex clients do support this.
Other client types need plex.tv to find the server - which makes it impossible for them to find the server when there is no connection to plex.tv.
