Is there an estimated date for the next release/version?

Is there an estimated date for the next release/version (assuming that will fix the OSD issue)? Thanks!

Any release dates are arbitrary goals at best. The last delivered date was around a month past the initial estimate. The Rasplex/OpenPHT team is working for free in their own time after all and the community should not attempt to hold them accountable to this schedule. Their time available to work on this project is going to fluctuate and from my own experience, often features and issues take a lot more time to implement and resolve then you initially realize before you begin the work. There are also upstream dependencies that a release maybe waiting on as well.

TLDR; None of these dates matter and please don’t bug the team about them.

While waiting you can check how I fixed the annoying OSD issue on my player:

thanks - so the advancedsettings.xml should be enough to fix this. Will try tonight !

Actually, for me the OSD issue was fixed by using the VSYNC option set to Let the driver choose. However, before I upgraded my Ubuntu LTS to the latest 4.4 kernel and xorg version I had issues with this option as all Plex menus were screwed. I was going to use the advancedsettings.xml workaround only if I had to keep VSYNC option set to Only during video playback. Hope this clarifies the fix.

Thanks - didnt have time to mess around with it last night - will try tomorrow and report back.

Such a shame that Plex have abandoned PHT replacing it with a barely functional product (PMP) with little flexibility or configurable options and that we the public have to look after the better client ourselves. Agree with above comments - great job OpenPHT team, Plex should be paying you for making them look good.

I agree, I resisted OpenPHT for the longest time (I like shiny, new things and support initiative) but have recently abandoned all the other clients I was using (Apple TV, Xbox One and PMP) as they are all currently worse than OpenPHT, and improving slower than erosion.

Progress eh?

When your best client is being made by the community it must make you question whether you took a few wrong turns somewhere along the way? Such a shame is right.

Can we not make this a PMP bashing thread please? I agree OpenPHT is currently better but there’s no need to dump on PMP in this thread.

I think a lot of PHT users felt abandoned by Plex inc when they abandoned the client. There are still some negative feelings about it. Is there an official PMP dumping thread they could use? Perhaps some “I dumped PMP in favor of OpenPHT and now I couldn’t be happier?”

I don’t see why one couldn’t be created. Be my guest, I’m sure there’s much discussion, and I emphasize that (instead of rant) about the direction Plex has taken.
