I have been looking for a solution for this, but can not find anything on it. All my TV Shows display and play Specials before Season 01. Please tell me there is an option/setting I am overlooking to disable that or have it placed after all the Seasons within that TV Show. Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately, there is no ‘option’ to skip Season 0 / Special or move them to the end… BUT…
and this might sound awkward but has its benefits.
Create a playlist. Put them in the order you want. Play the Playlist. When it sits in On Deck when you come back, resume that episode .
Thanks ChuckPa for the reply! It was the answer I was hoping not to hear… I just don’t understand why they would think that anyone should watch the specials before season 01. Does not make sense at all!
We (Ninjas) have also debated and asked. The current thinking is that ‘Specials’, which are also ‘Season 0’ are simply the biproduct of numerical sorting. Your post has started a discussion about what to do in general with “Play All”. If you’d like, I can report back here when I hear something.
If you are sure that certain “specials” belong at the end of certain “seasons” then you can name them in the sXXeYY format after the last valid episode and they will show in that location. You loose any metadata but it does appear and play in the desired order.
That is if the last episode of season 01 is s01e23 the if you name a special to appear at the end s01e24 it will appear as expected.
It works but is is not perfect. One thing this method cannot do is insert a special between shows of a season. That is there seems to be no way to keep correct metadata for existing episodes and add a special between two episodes. That is if you have a season with episodes 01 - 23 you cannot add an episode between 14 and 15 and keep the metadata correct for the episodes after 14. things like s01e14a do not work for this.
I have been told that for actual episodes that aired independently and are correctly identified by The TVDB as s00eYY they will play in the correct order by date aired. I have not verified this but it has been stated many times by people that should know.
I have recently added all the auxiliary programs to “Babylon 5” and the added episodes do seem to have correct metadata so I may have a change to verify the date order playing when I re-watch the series which I plan to do soon. Most of the movies and specials should be viewed either before or after a given season but there are a couple that should appear half way through a season. Now that I think about it I think I may have to edit the “First aired date” of the “Babylon 5” specials to make it work. I do not know if that field can be edited but I guess I will find out when I try.
Thanks Elijah_Baley for the reply. I do understand how the TVDB listings work for specials and placement. I also understand your work around to place “specials” items at the end of each season. When I rip my DVD/BR discs, I label them s00e101, etc. so that they are not in line with the TVDB listings. I only want to watch the “Specials” if I feel like it - hence the reason for it to be displayed and played after all the seasons. I label each season’s specials accordingly (s00e101-1xx for Season 1 specials, s00e201-2xx for Season 2 specials, etc.), so that I can choose to watch that season’s specials if I desire.
