I typically want to record “New” shows. Often in the UK, a new show will be shown twice in its first week.
If I have a clash between three different shows at the same time, will the lowest-priority show be lost? or will it be recorded later in the week?
How can I record the second showing of that show?
This aspect does not seem clear from the documentation.
@solublepeter highest gets priority in the list until there are no tuners, if it is not recorded it would be recorded at the next airing. I keep my recording so I set all recording to “new and repeat” so the airing doesn’t have to be marked as “new” in the program guide. You can change order by sliding them up and down the list

Does “new” apply to all showings of the latest episode?
