Is there any way to set playback start times for multi-episode files?

Hi,

I have files that have 2 episodes each in them. I’ve found how to name them so each episode appears individually - however, when I play back the second episode of the file, it starts on the first episode of the file every time.

Is there a way to tell Plex to start playback at a certain time so we don’t have to manually skip the first episode in the file? Is there a way to tell Plex to stop playback at a certain point, i.e. once the first episode on the file is over?

This has been driving me bonkers. It’s fairly common for shows to have 2 episodes in one airing, so I can’t be the only one to have this problem.

I would not mind an option to manually set this for each episode in PMS if there is no way to name the file to indicate where the episode split is in the file.

Any help is appreciated, unless you tell me to manually split the file itself.

Thank you!

No. That is the way Plex handles files with more than one show in it. I handle it by simply skipping, in the file numbering, one of the included episodes. Others do it by using one of the many tools available and manually splitting the file into separate files.

For my way if I have a show that should be named: “ShowName - s01e02e03 - Description.ext” I rename it to “ShowName - s01e02 - Description.ext” or “ShowName - s01e03 - Description.ext” whichever I think is best and then, if I feel the need, I edit the summary and title in Plex to reflect that it has both episodes.

I find that is plenty good enough for me and I can, if I want, even stop the playback after the first part plays if I wish to delay my viewing of the second part.

Plex does not care at all if an episode is numerically missing as it will just blissfully skip it and I do not have to watch the same file twice or in any other way skip it.

But there is no way to keep the double numbering and have Plex only play one of the two episodes at a time automatically.

Thanks for the reply. I can stop pulling my hair out! Now to request this feature somewhere.
