I just got a Plex Pass because of all the awesome features Plexamp comes with. I installed plexamp on my Mac (Intel), and it’s working fine, except for one thing: It seems it has no Chromecast support! Just to be sure, I also installed Plexamp on my Samsung Galaxy phone, and there, I can cast from Plexamp to my Xaomi Mibox, which has Chromecast built in.
Am I missing something?
From what I remember this cannot be done natively using the Plexamp macOS desktop client.
If your Mac is running on a M1/M2 chip, you might be able to install the iOS Plexamp app on the desktop instead – apparently that one’s able to stream to a chromecast device (at least I can see my Android TV in Plexamp on iOS as a target).
Chromecasts can only be casted to from sender apps on Web ( really mostly Chrome and some other browsers based on chromium), iOS, and Android because that is what the SDK for it supports. More info here Overview | Cast | Google Developers
Thanks for the quick replies. Sadly my Mac has an Intel chip, so tom80h’s suggestion isn’t going to pan out.
BigWheel, for what it’s worth, the Spotify MacOS app can cast.
Never mind, I just found this:
The Spotify Desktop client is a Windows and Mac native application that uses CEF (Chromium Embedded Framework) to display a web-based user interface.
