Is there anyway to have synced items remember where you left off and resume playback? I use my Android phone to watch shows while commuting on the train. If I watch streaming I can resume where I left off on the trip home but if it is a synced item it continues to show unwatched and has no resume point. Not sure if I need to change a setting or if this is a feature not yet supported? Also the synced item still show as unwatched after finishing an episode I have to manually select watched.
I do have cell service still on and it is able to update but I have to mark it watched manually on the phone and it does not keep track of where I am in a show but only for synced content if I am watching non synced streaming it works just fine.
It should remember. When playing the sycned content do you see the time slider? Does it move correctly? Are you able to jump around? I’ve seen cases where the duration info for the video goes missing somehow so these things don’t work and progress can’t be kept since the time line info is wrong.
the time slider does work I can see where I am at in a show and move it to where I left off but as soon as I shut down the app and start it up again the show will not show it being watched at all and start from the beginning

Are you just shutting down the app while it is playing? That can mess up the progress update as well.
No. I hit Stop or the X in the middle of the show. Then close my tablet. When I reopen my table and try to resume, it just starts the show from the beginning.
Again, this is only with synced items. Everything works fine when streaming from PMS.
Yes I have tried pausing and then backing out of the show and stopping then backing out also closing the player with the x but the results are the same.
I have the same problem on android and win 10. Annoyed that they still haven’t fixed it after releasing their new and improved sync for android. It makes syncing more of a hassle than just moving a video from the computer to and use vlc.
It works for me flawlessly, but when my Android doesn’t have a connection to my PMS (for instance because it’s in airplane mode), I need to press sync for it to sync my progress on synced items.
When you press sync I would assume it syncs to the server, so I don’t see how that could update progress on a video. I tried that but it still sets my progress back to the last time I watched when connected to the server. It almost defeats the purpose of mobile sync because it doesn’t integrate the progress of offline files with the server when it re connects
This has become very frustrating actually as I have tried every way of exiting/stopping the video and app to see if it saves the progress. Not once have I seen it work when I am not on the same network as my Plex server. Any way to stop the video (arrow in top left, stop button in video controls, back button on android, …) I have tried has not resulted in the progress being saved. I don’t believe it has anything to do with syncing, because normally when a video stops you can see the progress on the play triangle circle, where the circumference of the white progress arc is proportional to your progress. So it’s not even getting to the point where it waits until the app can talk to the server because it was never saved locally.
I hope someone sees this because it greatly limits my usage of the mobile app, I’ve been moving files manually to sd card and using vlc for over a year.
The problem seams to be working on my Android phone now with synced items but I do also have a connection by cell service to the server, not sure about in airplane mode. Are you running the latest app and server?
I’m running latest android and have the second to last plex update (It’s happened over about 20 updates). I think the android version would be the important half anyway as the problem is occurring without the server.
I have been meaning to set up remote access for this purpose but it would be exposing the server to the internet for no reason other than the app not working, so I’m not too into that solution. Also, I’m in a double nat because of comcast and I haven’t switched out the modem for one that doesn’t suck.
