Issue: Display Resolution Is Very Low When RPI Is Started With TV Off

Well yes of course, the RPI will ask the display for the correct resolution, if the display is off dont expect the RPI to display the correct resolution.

But you can force the resolution you wish in the config.txt

How exactly do I do that?
Also why doesn’t the CEC work?

You can check how to force any resolution here in this link

The CEC doesnt work because again, your TV wasnt on for the handshake but maybe you can force it also with a command like

hdmi_force_hotplug=1 Use HDMI mode even if no HDMI monitor is detected

But this can change based on your TV as each brand and model is different

hdmi_force_hotplug=1 was already there
hdmi_mode=32 didnt work

Hi Anyone there who can help?

also add hdmi_safe=1

Sorry adding that doesn’t work & reduces the display resolution back to the lower one which was earlier stated.

works for me

are you sure that refresh rate is supported by the display?
what does tvservice says about your display supported resolutions when running on full resolution
what does tvservice says about the same but when the display fails?

also please show me your config.txt

To make my life easy could you tell me how to access config.txt over ssh while I pull the SD card & pop it into the laptop this time? I have seen an article which asks me to remount /flash for this purpose. Is that it?

thats right, you need to remount it to make ir rw
