I have no problem playing AC3 and DTS sound with this settings.
I was able to play AAC 5.1 sound on video file on my Sony XR65X90J when I first install the app. However, there were upgrade to both the server and the client recently and I have discovered today it is unable to play AAC 5.1 anymore, sound only play in Stereo. Can someone help me on this issue?

They changed how codecs work, adding OPUS and now it is using OPUS apparently as the default for AAC and EAC, this wrecks optical setups. There are several threads on this now. Has been stated this will be fixed in the next BETA

No wonder why I also discovered EAC3 is not working properly either. Thanks for the information.

Hi all.
I believe I’m having the same/similar issue with my 2020 Sony Bravia using the google store app. My settings are the same as the OP.
However, I’ve noticed that certain pieces of content WILL pay 5.1 properly. Can’t figure out what the commonality/differences are between those that work, and those that don’t. But the pieces that play correctly in the great minority.
Should I wait for the update mentioned below? Would I have access to the beta not having a Plex Pass? Is there an ETA on the beta?
Is there a way to revert back to the previous version?

The version linked below works for me. There may be a more recent version that doesn’t force OPUS, but I’m not going to risk screwing it up again. I’ve been having to watch videos off of the USB drive hooked up to the tv for two months.
