BUG: Audio Passthrough Optical Encoding to AC3 broken in Plex for Android TV 8.4.0

When playing a movie with AAC 5.1, it will display the player, but never actually start playback, just stuck at 0:00.

I have Sonos home theatre which doesn’t support AAC 5.1, so use audio passthrough in the Plex app settings to enable passthrough encoding to AC3, this has worked without issue up until today with the new Plex app release.

Tried using both new and old player, both experience same issue.

Turning audio passthrough off enables movies to play without issue, however then means 5.1 is downscaled to stereo by Sonos, so not ideal.

If this can be resolved that would be great. If further info is required let me know.

Just noticed this with the newest plex pass beta. I also have a sonos setup and turning off audio passthrough allows the video to play. If audio passthrough is enabled I get “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.”
