Issue when trying to Resume a movie

I have PlexConnect working well (with the certificate) running on the same iMac i7 Quad than my PMS.  I'm running OS X 10.8.5 beta and it works well, except if I stop a movie/TV show, then try to resume it latter.

If I choose "resume", The movie resume with no picture.  I have sound, but no picture.

Playing a different movie or choosing to restart the movie, it will work!

does anyone else experience that kind of issue ?

Version of PMS, Plexconnect, and ATV firmware?

PMS: Latest version for the Plexpass

PlexCONNECT : Last git Pull as of yesterday night

ATV Firmware 5.3 (last currently in production)

Version of PMS, Plexconnect, and ATV firmware?

Does this happen all of the time? Or only occassionally?

I only tried yesterday night. On this movie, always. On another one the other day, it was the same.

I rebooted the imac, the pms, plexconnect and the apple tv…

You should test more movies to see if it might be specific to certain files/encodings. I would then set log level in settings.cfg to High, quit Plexconnect, restart and then go through the process of reproducing the issue. Then attach the Plexconnect.log file to a post in this thread.

Ok, I did some extra testing.  It's not all files.  They are all MKV 1080p, but was not produced by same people.  The one that doesn't work on PlexConnect do works on PLEX iOS client and PLEX web (it eliminates that the PMS can't work with those files).

Here is the MediaInfo of one of the files that doesn't resume (on those same files, there is also a issue when fast-forwarding and it tries to play when I hit play again it will 'spin' forever).

Can someone try to help ?? It's really not cool to have only a semi-working solution :(

I haven’t commented further because of my personal lack of knowledge of the encoding of files, transcoding, and PMS.

Log is somewhat strange...

It seems that for Pause/Play the point in time is recorded correctly, but Stop has issues. But why should that happen just on this  file?

It’s not just one file, but some of them. Strange they work fine with plex web and plex for ios, don’t you think?

Just checked back with Roidy... the "stopped=0" is fine. We are going through the code and might have to provide a file with more logging on the JS side.

Have you tried remuxing the file from MKV to M4V using Subler or some similar program. Remuxing only takes a few minutes and I would be interested to see if the file plays once it is converted to a native ATV format.

...or try to force transcoding - not just direct streaming - by reducing the bitrate to one that is lower than the current movie bitrate.
