Server Type#: QNAP TS431 XeU
Server Version#: 1.20.5.3600
Hi 3 days ago I try to change the ownership of one of my server on give it to my father who finally decide to get a Plex Pass I follow this procedure and I wasn’t able to reclaim the server with the new account or even with my own account. In a desperate measure I try to completely uninstall and reinstall plex from the latest version on the plex website and even this wouldn’t help every time I try to access to the server from his ip I get the error message “No Soup for you”
Can anyone help me getting out of this situation?
There is a very simply procedure to transfer the ownership of the server.
It’s based on having physical access to it.
We do this through the PlexData shared folder.
(Go to Control Panel and give yourself permission to see it and restart Plex if you don’t already see it in File Station. The restart activates the linkages)
Stop Plex
Install the QNAP Text Editor
Open File Station
PlexData -> Plex Media Server
RIght click Preferences.xml and ‘Open in Text editor’
Now you must be careful but this is easily done.
Remove the following fields:
PlexOnlineUsername=“Value”
PlexOnlineEmail=“Value”
PlexOnlineToken=“Value”
PlexHome=“value” (if it exists)
make certain all other values are name="value" format .
Save the file.
In your browser:
a. open app.plex.tv
b. Settings - Authorized Devices (left corner) - Server (dropdown)
c. Remove (“X”) your server name (the one being transferred)
d. Sign out of your Plex.tv account (upper right in your Avatar)
Now start the server
Have your father open the server (or you do it for him) On the same LAN … it cannot be remote else Plex security will block it (it thinks the server is being stolen).
Hi,
Thank you for your fast reply, just to be sure in the procedure linked in my issue, it’s said to remove PlexOnlineHome=“value” (that I have) should I remove it ?
To be safe I decide to make a copy of the Preference.xml file and also remove the PlexOnlineHome=“value” key:value and follow your solution and it work just fine.
Thank you very mutch.
