Issue with Artists Backgrounds?

Fanart.tv is not cached by Plex.
You may run into limits, when updating many items in a short time. Wait 24 hours and try to refresh the items afterwards.
You can put your own personal ‘API key’ for fanart.tv into the properties of the agent. API key holders have different limits.

Thanks for the advice Otto. I’ve left this for 48 hours and rebuilt a Basic Library and a Premium Library on my test system. The source iTunes music library has three albums by Leonard Cohen and three albums by Led Zeppelin.

In my Plex Basic Library only a single poster image is found for each artist and no background art. The Premium Library has plenty of poster and background art for Leonard Cohen but only poster art for Led Zeppelin.

Fanart.tv has plenty of poster and background images for both artists.

Otto, Do you have any further thoughts on this one? I’ve noticed that various posters “seem” to remember that this used to work better than it is currently. Is this a Plex issue or a Fanart issue?

Sorry, I have no new insights.

Having same issue with Artists like black sabbath and Beastie boys for example. But not all artists. Using a premium music library.

I’ve found a manual solution. I go to the artist page, from the … menu I choose “match” and in most cases I am able to get a match and select it. The metadata gets refreshed and Artist posters and art start to appear.

I see that using “Fix Match” often retrieves the artist-background images. Why does this need a manual intervention? Why doesn’t the Library Update do this automatically?

I have also seen the match appear and I select it but sometimes the artist artwork doesn’t populate. This also sometimes fails for albums. I see the album cover returned in the search results but then the album cover is not updated in my server.
