So I’m not sure if it’s just my setup or if it’s a known bug, but there appears to be an issue with downloading artists backgrounds. None of the backgrounds will download for my music. Backgrounds for movies download fine and without any issues Yes my file structure is correct, nothing has changed since I previously had plex running which was about a month ago before I RMA’d my cache drive.
I’ve completely removed Plex, deleted all the files recursively, and re-installed and it’s still not working. It doesn’t appear to be downloading the backgrounds from the sites. I’ll post a log as soon as I can.
There exists some issues with how Plex gathers artist pictures. Possibly you are seeing a combination of them.
If the artist has a disambiguation text on fanart.tv it will not get matched.
If your artist is not named as the artists most current alias it will not get matched on fanart.tv in some cases because Plex does not read local mbids.
htbackdrops is currently down so you can’t get pictures from there right now. It seems like they let the DNS expire and someone else nabbed it. Another (presumably unrelated) site is currently online on the address.
Yeah I get what you mean. But it’s funny how you mention Beyonce since it is a perfect example of what Plex (because of the reasons I listed) can currently not match.
Here is what is happening currently with Beyonce:
Plex can not match her on fanart.tv because she is listed with a disambiguation text. Click here to see what I mean: https://fanart.tv/?s=Beyonce§=2
Notice that she is not simply listed “Beyonce”. So Plex skips fanart.tv.
Next is htbackdrops, which is down. So Plex skips it.
And there are no other sources for backgrounds. Which leads to the kinda odd situation that a popular artist like Beyonce gets no background. It’s true. The same goes for any artist on fanart.tv that has (xxxxx) after their name. You can try search yourself. Rihanna also has the same problem for example. Usually, we don’t notice this bug since htbackdrops gives pictures then. But yeah.
Of course, maybe this isn’t your problem, but Beyonce does not get background art currently.

Having this problem too where i never used to!
Remember, htbackdrops only went down some month ago. Before that, everything was fine.
You guys should get backdrops for some artists though. Try adding Christina Aguilera. It should work since she has no (xxxx) in her name on fanart.tv
Nope, it doesn’t work. It seems that pulling for fanart.tv is broken.
I have a very large library and it worked months ago but I just did a clean install and it seems to be broken. Even tried Lady gaga and it doesn’t appear to pull thumbs or backgrounds from fanart.tv

You’re right, it does seem so. I also confirmed it now with band Victorian Halls. Something recently must have broken fanart.tv completely, as this worked fine very recently. I hope Plex gets on the case fast.

How do I submit a “ticket” or bring it to their attention?
You can’t around here, which is really a shame. Or well you can message someone on the Plex team I guess although that’s obviously only if it’s really important. It’s kinda hard to report any bugs to Plex to be honest.
Well, lucky for us this time, they already fixed it in the latest server release. I just confirmed it’s working again.
It’s odd that it does work for me. Although I use the “basic” music library. Perhaps it’s only a problem on premium? Do you guys all use the premium music library?
