So I have had Podcasts and all other online media sources disabled until this week when I decided to try Plex for Podcasts. My current android app hasn’t been updated lately and I wanted to see if Plex could be a replacement. I enabled podcasts fully in online media sources. Podcasts show up on my roku and plex web. My android app REFUSES to show them. They do not show up under MORE.
I have completely wiped data/cache and uninstalled the app and re-setup the app again. No change. I enrolled in the plex beta. No change. I cannot figure out how the heck I can get podcasts to show up in the android mobile app. There seems to be no way. I have done everything suggested in this and other posts to try to fix it. It seems the android app is bugged for my account. Anyone have any suggestions for me to try after everything else I have already tried?
EDIT: To be 100% clear, even if Podcast was hidden, I have gone into the menus where I should be able to unhide it. It is not there to unhide even.
So I messed around a little bit. I went and turned on News and Web Shows as well and BAM this got Podcasts to show up in the android app along with the other two. I pinned Podcast at this point and then disabled Web Shows and News again. Doing that caused this to happen.
You cannot go to it. I re-enabled News and Web Shows again, but Podcasts is now just grayed out. I disabled News and Web Shows again and wiped data and cache on the Plex Android app. I re-signed in and Podcast is still sitting in the sidebar grayed out with that yellow exclamation point error symbol. Now if I enable Web Shows and News all I will see is Web Shows and news when expanding the MORE list.
At this point I am concluding something is bugged with my Plex account in the back end and only a Plex employee could resolve it at this point.
This is what is currently installed(the beta) but it was doing the exact same thing on the current public release before I tried switching to the beta.
I just got this error as well. I was using podcasts as normal two nights ago, then it showed up grayed out in my media sources, and I can’t select it. I am also on 7.26.0.14578
I just had this happen to me. For unrelated reasons, I had to wipe my phone entirely and reinstall. When I reinstalled Plex for Android, the podcasts simply wouldn’t show up. Using your “trick” of enabling News, podcasts finally showed up as well. I pinned it to the list to keep it and went and disabled news again. Fortunately, podcasts remained pinned to my sidebar and still works, but with News disabled, podcasts does not show up on the list of “More” sources. So if I unpin it, there’s no way to access it except to re-enable news.
