Issue with ISP auto DNS routing

Hi there

I am new to plex, however managed to successfully install it on my ATV3 using the trailers hijack fix. My plex server runs on my MacMini and everything in plex works perfectly. I can play any of the files in my library on the ATV.

However the issue I have is that I live in Singapore and my ISP provides a service whereby I can access US Netflix and Hulu Plus (amongst others) automatically - they handle the routing at the backend. This works for any device connected to my home network.I assume this is some auto DNS routing on their part. Note, this is selective routing which only kicks in when accessing the relevant sites to make it appear I'm in the US, all other traffic goes through the normal local route.

The issue is that, I cannot access Netflix or Hulu through the ATV when the ATV is configured to use plex, however when I change the  ATV's DNS setting back to default (rather than pointing to my MacMini Plex Server) it works again.

I assume manually changing the DNS settings to point to the plex server are interfering with whatever the ISP is doing to route the Netflix and Hulu traffic.

Has anyone come across this issue and know of a fix? Would be too much of a pain to manually change this every time I want to swap between Netflix and watching a local file.

Thanks

Andrew

Change the IP dnsmaster setting in settings.cfg to point to the DNS you want.
