Plex server and iTunes config

Hi there,

Brand new to Plex, so hello and thank you to the community in advance!

I've just bought a windows 8 machine which I'm using as a home server, and it's running the latest version of Plex server.

I've followed the instructions to install Plex client on my ATV3 and its running happily via the trailers app. (I.e. No jail breaking)

As part of the ATV setup, you need to change the DNS address on the ATV to match the IP of the server running Plex.

The issue I'm having is that when the atv's DNS address is pointed to the server, I can't access any regular iTunes content. I.e. The ATV is not able to connect to the internet.

If I change the DNS address settings in the ATV back to "automatically assign DNS" then I can get on the Internet and use regular iTunes (which is expected) BUT it obviously means I can't connect to the Plex server.

SO...how do I configure the plex client and/or server such that my ATV will access Plex streamed content via the trailers app, plus still be able to access regular iTunes content via the Internet?

Need you to post all the info in the How to report a problem section of the pinned "READ BEFORE POSTING" thread, including log and settings.cfg file.

BUt would suggest you try using your ISP's DNS server rather than 8.8.8.8 in the settings.cfg to see if this fixes the issue.

Okay think I may have figured it out...I've done some forum research and this this may be a noob alert (do people even say that anymore?). I will test this weekend and post for other people's reference.
