Issue with Plex Not Recognizing "Hey Arnold!" Episode Format Correctly

Hi everyone,
I’m running Plex on my NAS and recently added the classic 90s cartoon Hey Arnold! to my library. However, I’m running into a problem with how Plex is recognizing and organizing the episodes.

As many fans of 90s cartoons know, Hey Arnold! episodes typically consist of two separate story segments within a single 22-minute episode. For example, “Episode 1” should include both segment A and segment B, treated as one episode in the season.

The issue I’m having is that Plex is treating each segment as a separate full episode. So instead of recognizing Episode 1 as “1x01A and 1x01B” combined into a single listing, Plex lists them as Episode 1 and Episode 2, effectively doubling the number of episodes and misaligning the series.

This incorrect mapping continues throughout the entire series and throws off episode tracking and viewing continuity. I’ve tried renaming a few files in different ways, but nothing seems to help.

Has anyone run into this issue with Hey Arnold! or similar shows? Any advice on how to structure the files or nudge Plex into recognizing the proper episode format would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

That is what it does. See the note text in Blue in the “Multiple Episodes in a Single File” section of naming doc. That is why it is recommended to split them up in that doc.

We do however support TVDB alternate orders now which for that show at least there is a “Joined Order” which puts the two story lines in one episode. ( I get you may not want to rename things again but is really the best option)

Hey Arnold S01E01.mkv would be Downtown as Fruits / Eugene’s Bike in joined order
