Recently I had an issue after updating plex to the latest media server. I have scoured the boards for answers to what happened and how to resolve it to no avail. First I was unable to connect to my server. I deleted the server but then found out quickly that maybe I shouldn’t have done that. Then i completely deleted my directory for the old server, and deleted the plex server again and attempted to connect via ip on the web (32400). I get “Something wrong. Unexpected error” when I do that now. No reclaim server. No fresh start. I read on another topic that plex resets your server settings to prioritize streaming options over your personalized settings whenever they update. I just want to access what I paid for when I bought the plex pass. I need help.
Plex saves your account information and server settings in the Windows registry. Uninstalling the app does not remove this information. If you really want to start over, you need to remove this as well. Here is our support article on removing all traces of Plex. Uninstall PMS
Alternatively, sounds like you may have used a different Plex account between attempts, so the account you are using now is not the one you used before. See Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in? | Plex Support on how to just remove your account info.
I only have one account for Plex. I will make an attempt to fully remove all traces of Plex and attempt to start over.
I tried removing the registry from regedit. Uninstalling the Media server…to the same results. Identical. The notion that I used a different Plex account is just not a good answer because I don’t have any other Plex accounts. I just need help to get me back into where I can start from scratch and don’t seem to see any comprehensive answers to doing so. What do I do next?
Update!! I was able to get back in by looking up my own IP address and changing it in the field. Initially I got a spinning orange circle…then i reloaded my browser and was prompted to create a server name…ironically I was able to keep my same folders intact without any issue. Its reloading as we speak and I even have a nifty new server name.
