I listen to PlexAmp through my comm headset in my motorbike helmet. While I am listening to music, as a phone call comes in a few things happen.
First, my ringtone is no longer played. Instead, the volume of what I am listening to increases (maybe 25%) and any tonal adjustments are remover (sounds like listening through a tin can).
At this point, I can no longer control my phone through my headset. I can talk and listen to the conversation but I can’t hang up nor can I restart my music (used to be automatic play when call terminated).
Further, this loss of control via bluetooth carries on until I restart the phone. I can connect other bluetooth devices, like my earbuds, but I cannot hear anything playing. The only time I can hear something is when someone calls again. Then the music in a can starts, I press the button to connect. I can talk and listen but no control; can’t hang up.
When I restart, everything works fine(ish) until someone calls again.
I just tried this while listening to Youtube Music (yuck) and everything worked. I could control the call and the music resumed when call terminated, so I am fairly certain it is plex amp causing these issues.
posting details of your phone and logs might be helpful, but have you tried switching the audio interface over to AAudio (or the other if it’s on AAudio already)?
Sorry for the slow reply. Unless here is another reason the audio might be getting stopped by another app on the phone, the logs show that when audio focus is requested by something else (the phone call presumably) we are pausing playback and when focus is returned we are resuming payback.
I’ll see if I can reproduce this scenario on my bluetooth headset.
I’ve just tested this on my headset and the music paused/resumed as expected, but I did have some problems with the BT controls. I’ll look into the controls issues.
Can you confirm that music playing under the voice call happens every time as I didn’t get that behaviour?
Are you receiving a phone call over cellular or it coming from another voice over ip app?
I’m not sure what you mean by “music playing under the voice call” When I am listening to music and a call comes in, instead of the music pausing and me hearing my ringtone, the music gets louder and all tonal adjustments go away until the call ends or I answer it. Happens every time.
OK, when I test this scenario the music pauses as expected and I can take the call. So we would need to determine what might be different in your setup to mine. Do you have any other Bluetooth devices you could test with?
How are the “tonal adjustments” you mention here being applied?
You are on AAudio at the moment, does the problem persist with OpenSL?
I have a pair of BT earbuds and I experienced the same behaviour. Initially I thought it might be my helmet headset so I tried with my earbuds and the same thing happened. If you need me to try something just let me know.
I use the equalizer in the app to set the bass/trebble/midrange.
I have not tried OpenSL, I wouldn’t know the difference. I will try that tomorrow
I recently found a bug which might have been causing this issue, it’s fixed in the next release, 4.6. @One_Bit_Wonder if the issue persists after you update to that version let us know!
