Player Version#: 2026.18.0 (2004)
These are all things I know worked correctly (except where noted) on the old version of the Apple TV App that now do not.
PGS subs appear darker than they should on HDR content. They also aren’t decoded as Rec 2020, so any full color subtitles, like the sing-along track in Wicked, appear very desaturated.
Subtitles on cropped content are now broken. SRT subs treat the top and bottom of the video as the top and bottom of the screen, making them appear shrunken. Changing display modes does not affect their appearance whatsoever. They appear normal on 16:9 content.
The four corners of a PGS stream are now snapped to the four corners of the video, causing them to be stretched to various degrees depending on the aspect ratio of the content. Setting Display Mode to Stretch makes them look correct. (on the old version of the app, they acted like SRT subs do now, except that changing display mode to zoom made them appear normal) They appear normal on 16:9 content.
I assume these are issues that exist on every version of the app with the way the codebase now works, but the Apple TV is all I’ve tested.
