Unable to play video

I have Rasplex 1.6.2.123 installed on a Raspberry Pi Model 2b (1MB). Plex server is running on Windows 7. Server performs well on all other connected devices, like XBox360, Android phone, WD Live TV, etc. I can play music on my Rasplex Raspberry Pi, but it always fails when trying to play video. My library is almost entirely .mp4 videos that I’ve transcoded with Handbrake. Any help troubleshooting would be great. Are there logs on the server or on the Rasplex installation on Rasperry Pi that I can look at to help me determine the problem? Perhaps settings on the server for streaming a supported type? I tried searching the forums to see if this is a common issue but I didn’t find a lot that was helpful.

You may need to purchase and install MPEG2 & VC-1 licenses. MP4 is just a container, so the codecs inside may need these licenses.

You can read about it here:

And purchase them here:

Thanks for the info. I’ll try your suggestions and get back.

Well, if you are transcoding your videos with handbrake you know what codecs you are using and at what bitrates. I use H.264 and ACC and have no problem with rasplex.

You could transcode the files manualy or create a rule so the server transcode it for you on stream
