iTunes Store MetaData?

@bass_rock nope, still pulling all info in.

@bass_rock any clue?

Ok @zackotronic try it again with the latest from github.

@bass_rock seems to work. Thanks man!

@bass_rock wait, i think i spoke too soon. It’s still pulling the plot from iTunes

I reverse-searched my way into this thread from the iTunes Artwork Finder page. This agent is super promising, as iTunes is currently the only place to get localized high-resolution posters for a lot of the movies in my library. However, using fan.tv as an intermediary for finding the iTunes id means the more obscure stuff isn’t found - even if a straight search on iTunes would show results.

Would it be possible having the agent actually search iTunes using the localized name string - and pop the returned posters into the poster selector?

I believe it would be I just didn’t know the best way to do this. Basically we would need an option to select the iTunes result you want because I also use it for descriptions and titles. Not just posters.

I will accept any pull requests or issues though on the github page!

Would love to also have the plex server support Parallax Artwork as I also have a wait to grab that.

That makes sense. Maybe I’d be better off with a trimmed down version of your agent that just returns posters based on a text-search on iTunes. I’ll do it manually for now  Thanks!

Is this still being supported?

@jrdnlc Yea to my knowledge it is working as expected. I actually just used it recently when i redid my media and have great looking artwork.

I also have a way to get the apple tv parallax artwork, just no where to store it in plex.

@bass_rock That would be awesome to have. Maybe an option under settings to allow the user to select were they want the parallax artwork to be saved?

Edit: How about music support?

This is fantastic! I just found bendodson.com and was wondering if anyone could make an iTunes store agent like that.

It seems that the wrong posters were pulled for some of the movies in my library… For example, “The Who - Quadrophenia (Live in London)” poster was pulled for “The Duke of Burgundy”… totally unrelated… It turns out that the moviedbid for “The Duke of Burgundy” is 250225 while the fan.tv id for the movie is 226115.

@bass_rock Do you know why I can’t select the iTunes metadata agent when manually trying to match a file? iTunes doesn’t appear on the dropdown list.

@bass_rock thanks for the agent, but I can’t get it to work. I put it as the first agent, only artwork is selected and I’ve tried multiple movies.

does this also works with german itunes metadata?

hey bass_rock; great agent works flawlessly. Quick question is there a way to also match the itunes extra as well. Example. The Walking Dead Seasons are numbered episode 1 as episode 1, then episode 2 as the making of episode 2, then episode 3 as episode 2. Also episodes 100 onwards keeps getting added to episode 1 then two etc. Any work around for the agent to also grab the episodes tags and description from the files metadata?

Hi,
On my plex this plugging doesn’t appears, i have the Versión 0.9.16.4 and the iTunesMetadata.bundle is placed on /Users/myUser/Library/Application\ Support/Plex\ Media\ Server/Plug-ins/iTunesMetadata.bundle

Is there a way to only use this when choosing “Fix incorrect match”? Could it be added to the list in this screenshot?

I want to use it to scrape Johnny Bravo WEB-DLs from iTunes because the TheTVDB wants episodes divided into 3 parts each. The iTunes way is muuuuuch preferred.

Thanks!

@zjpleau yes, it would need to become a primary metadata agent I believe and then would also need search functionality added.

I just updated the plugin, so it is working properly again and just refreshed my whole library with the latest images.

@trisc I can look into that. The main issue is the plugin uses some hacks to convert the TVDB ID to an iTunes id, currently for tv shows it uses findable.tv to search on the tvdb and then parses thru it to find its iTunes match. So if its wrong there, it will be wrong in your metadata. No one maintains an open database of associated id’s and plex doesnt let you manually save or set custom metadata such as the iTunes Id.
