Plexamp is one of the best players out there today in my opinion. I have a home media setup and was thinking of trying to setup plex amp as a jukebox. Sorta how thoes touch tune boxes work. Most of the functionality is already there I think it would just need a mode where you pick a song and it moves into a play queue.
It would be a cool feature request if anyone sees this
Thanks for the kind words and the great suggestion!
@elan I would love to see this feature as well. I’ve got the headless rpi working pretty well down in my basement (home bar). I would love to wall-mount a touchscreen monitor running plexamp in my basement to emulate a bar style touchscreen jukebox (just like Touch Tunes) for parties!!
The way pleaxamp is currently designed, when you click on a track, it gives you a ton of options and there’s too many clicks to add a track to the end of the queue (and make sure it’s added to the END). This current design is GREAT when it’s just me playing music for myself or others.
But imagine the concept of “Jukebox Mode” for parties and gatherings where anyone can select a song and it automatically gets added to the END of the queue with no other types of playback options given to the user. Again, just like Touch Tunes.
I envision that when “Jukebox Mode” is enabled, the only option is a single click of a song/track and this automatically adds it to the end of the queue. And “Jukebox Mode” would disable all other playback options that currently pop up when someone selects a track. Also, “Jukebox Mode” ONLY allows single tracks to be added to the queue…no albums, no artist radio, etc.
Just my 2 cents
Agreed, that sounds cool.
I think it would be cool if the TV could also be involved in some way, like showing the track that is playing with cover art and the next song or songs show in a queue or maybe a google images search of the artist while their track is playing to keep the content dynamic. Maybe incorporate it into the Plex Dash app and release for AppleTV, Fire Stick, etc. Just dreaming, carry on!
This would be a fun feature. The TV display would be great also. But if your going TV mode Im going with the Spectrum Visualizer. ![]()
