Just updated to the new Plex Media Server (1.13.5.5291) July 28/2018 and after update was not able to connect to my local server. I would sometimes get temp connection locally on the server itself and then would go to check on my player and nothing.
Tried all the basics, reboot server, reboot entire network, no changes. To fix this I have uninstalled this new version and gone to my %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Update folder and found the previous version (1.13.4.5271) and installed that. after reboot i have solid connection to my server now, locally and on my remote pc’s.
seems to be an issue with this version… skipping it for now.
I had the same problem on the remote computer I use at vacation place. Via remote desktop, Plex would show up locally then disappear then show up again then disappear. I too finally reverted to previous version and have skipped .5291 on my main system.
I have experienced similar problems with the - currently latest update 1.13.5.5291. (Plex Media Server installed on a QNAP NAS)
The problems were signalled when I was unable to connect with the plex for samsung app version 1.020; the app hangs during ‘connecting to the server’.
Next I tried to play some videos via my smartphone (Plex version 7.3.2.6276) and I was only able to play one item in roughly 10, videos that were played without problems earlier. The tries didn’t show up in the ‘status’ tab.
I downgraded to PMS version 1.13.0.5023, now I can reconnect with my smartphone; still not possible with plex for samsung app version 1.020
Last but not least, in the ‘sync’ tab, there was ‘you need a plex pass to use this feature’, while I have a plex pass, showing in the my account.
