Just got Plex Media Server 1.16.1.1210 - Cannot find info about it

Player Version#: 3.95.2

Just apt updated in Ubuntu, and got plexmediaserver 1.16.1.1210. Latest version in downloads is listed as 1.15.8.1198. What gives? Is this a valid package? It came right from Plex’s PPA:

“deb https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb/ public main”

That should not be visible in any way. It is Engineering development . It is pre-Alpha test.
Please remove it as it is very unstable and likely to cause problems for you.

Manually download and install until this is cleared up

Manually removed, downloaded 1.15.8.1198, and re-installed. Thanks for the quick response.

Please check the Repo now.

I spoke with the team. It appears they accidentally “deployed” the engineering build.
It should now be rolled back to normal.

Hi, I am in the same boat.
I have done an update of my server through the apt utility and now get the pre-alpha version…

Can you tell the right procedure to downgrade ? I don’t want to ruin my setup.
Can I just “dpkg -i” version 1.15.8.1198 on top of 1.16.1.1210 ?

Since they have repaired the PPA, you should be able to:

  1. “apt remove plexmediaserver” (NOT “apt purge plexmediaserver”).
  2. “apt update”
  3. “apt install plexmediaserver”

Make sure that 1.15.8.1998 is installed.

Plex Web itself is telling me that an update is available in the 1.16 branch, not as new as the one discussed above, but also can’t find any release info on it here:
1.16.0.1226

I have two plex servers on Ubuntu which I updated recently. The one today got 1.16.0.1226 and the one updated a few days ago got 1.16.1.1210. Both are set to the public update channel. Is the 1.16.xxx update live/public now?

The latest public release is 1.16.0.1226.
Version 1.16.1.1210 is a beta version.
The latest beta version is 1.16.1.1273.

I recommend you to uninstall your server with version 1.16.1.1210 and reinstall the latest public version 1.16.0.1226 except you are ok with a beta version on your second server.

So far I haven’t had any issues with the beta system. Just wondering what happened that it got installed. My update channel is set to public on both.

Am on 1.16.1.1210 as well and OK so far but not seeing update on beta channel?

Wondering whether as this was an engineering release it won’t flag new update.
