I seen a few people having certificate
Errors but don’t think this is the same but unsure
I share my library outside my network with no problems I been trying to add my mum she has a old jvc tv about 8-10 years old
I can’t get it to connect I just get a error in the picture if I press proceed anyway it just comes back up again
The aging TV probably doesn’t know the root ca used by Plex‘s when creating your server’s certificate. Hence it decides to not trust the server/certificate.
Unsure as it’s done through the app it should work unless the app is outdated on the jvc
Given the age of the TV, it is possibly affected by this: Important information about Plex for smart TVs after September 30, 2021.
As mentioned in the notice, you can try the following:
Plex TV app: Settings → Advanced → Allow Insecure Connections = Always
Plex Server: Settings → Network → Secure Connections = Preferred
You may also need to disable Strict TLS Configuration on the server Network settings page.
If none of that works, then consider acquiring a streaming box/stick - AppleTV, Roku devices, Android TV devices such as onn (Walmart), Amazon FireStick, etc.
Do not purchase an Amazon device with “Select” in the product name. They have limited capabilities when used with Plex (Plex on Vega OS devices (Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Select)).
