Keeping the metadata when the library is deleted

Server Version#: 1.17.0.1841-d42cfa161 (happened in other versions as well)
Player Version#: multiple versions

I have accepted the fact that my music library will crash from time to time (have tried lots of things but to no avail), and the only thing that helps the issue is for me to delete the library and add a new one with the exact same files. When I do this, is it possible for plex to remember all of the manual changes that I have made to the metadata? Not only is it super annoying that I have to periodically redo the library, but I hate the fact that I have to redo all of the manual metadata changes as well (e.g. correct the artist associations, change background images, etc.)

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Your best bet would be to use an external program like MP3tag to maintain the tags, in lieu of using PLEX’s proprietary and non-portable system… That way, the tags are embedded in the files and are portable to any device or player.
