Kodi playback failed when using plex add-on

Player Version#: Shield Pro

I have installed Kodi and the Plex add-on from within Kodi and have tried loading several files and every single one of them fail. In my web browser it shows that they are playing direct stream but on my Shield in the Kodi app I get the error" playback failed".

I can watch everything in the official Plex app on Shield but have spotty “direct play” playback of my content.
