After recently testing the new HEVC feature on my server I’ve run into a lot of problems with clients on my M2 MacBook Pro.
Using the HEVC feature (Unraid 7, GTX 1660 Super), I kept getting the following error code on every transcode on my MacBook (Web App and native mac app) no matter what resolution the file was or what resolution I was transcoding to:
- Error Code: 4294967283
I gave up and turned the feature off.
Now when I go to play anything on my Mac (in either the web (Safari, Chrome, or Arc) or app that is a higher file size, usually 4K HEVC Remux files, the audio will play but I get a blank blue or black screen for the video.
Also, all forced transcodes of any content is still throwing that Error Code: 4294967283.
Playing the exact same files on the iOS app or on the tvOS app works normally. Playback of those large files and transcoding of everything.
Turning off hardware transcoding does fix it. But I don’t want to do that, and that still doesn’t explain why the issue is only happening on my Mac and not on iOS/tvOS.
Is there a cache for the web player and Mac app I can clear. I don’t even know if that would cause this issue, I just can’t think of anything else that would only cause these issues on my Mac.
