Large MKV Resume Causes Stutter on Apple TV Plex (Infuse Helps, But Not Fully)

I’m running into a persistent issue with Plex playback on Apple TV — hoping someone’s seen this before.

When I resume playback of large MKV files, the video will occasionally stutter or lag, even though everything in my setup should rule out a bandwidth issue.

Setup details:
• Plex Media Server on Unraid v7.1.4
• Apple TV running the latest tvOS 26.0.1
• Both ATV and server are wired on gigabit Google Fiber
• Infuse reduces the issue significantly, but it still happens occasionally
• When this occurs, resources server side (cpu, disk, etc) look good and Plex seems to be Direct Playing/Direct Streaming as expected

It only seems to happen when resuming a file, not on a fresh start. Force quitting the app almost always works around the issue.

Anyone else run into this? Curious if it’s a Plex client bug, an Apple TV buffering issue, or something with how large MKVs are cached on resume.

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156
Player Version#: 8.45(1)

Potential fix: Disable Aerial Screen Savers and the download frequency. Restore device to reclaim space and keep that option disabled at setup. Native Plex seems to resume perfectly now.
