Do me a favor? Turn DEBUG logging back on?

I’m scratching my head wondering why I’m not seeing what I expect and need.

You don’t use any more space by having DEBUG on. just don’t turn on VERBOSE unless requested. If you do that, it will blast through the 26 MB logs buffer.

Now stop scanning.
Optimize database
Empty Trash
Clean bundles
Optimize database again
Start scanning your smallest library.
wait a couple minutes.

Download the logs again. ( I will see the the matching info)

How much did you give it to scan , btw? I know the xeon is fast but something is really slugging. I’ll know more with the DEBUG logs

ok im scanning movies now because its the smallest.
what do you mean ‘give it’? i can allocate cpu power to it?
did i neglect to say this is a mounted google drive?
is that why it’s slow?

PMS reads the media files . When you created the library section, did you expressly turn OFF thumbnails? If you didn’t, it will read each file end to end to pull out each chapter’s image. Your internet service is probably swamped ?

my internet connection on this server is pretty amazing
i did not turn off thumbnails for movies and tv, no.
here’s an updated log after i started scanning music

Much better thanks. This is the default mode. It makes it easiest for all of us.

Your music is ripping in… I can see it in the logs. It looks good.

thanks so much!!!
haha i feel like this was one of your more difficult cases.

It was. especially difficult when it’s 03.30 am ROFL.

the scan isn’t really getting metadata it seems because it ended scanning but i’m not seeing any changes, so i’m going to ‘refresh metadata’

let it do its thing please?

When you start clicking, you interrupt what it’s doing. Let the scanners do their job. They’ll get there. It may be done scanning but it will continue downloading long after the fact.
With a massive library, it will take time.

Each file is checked from Plex.tv (name / metadata ) that’s what’s taking time now.
When a block of them is built up, you’ll see albums populate as a group.

Previously they would populate individually. you catching Plex mid-provider change is awkward.

ah ok no worries
i figured it was done doing whatever it was doing because the scan indicator wasnt showing and it didnt say ‘cancel scan’.
it’s 3:30aam in brooklyn as well.
i’ll head to bed and wait

PA here. (harrisburg). time to get some sleep before the sun comes up.

goodnight
thanks again

Is this normal? It says 'downloading metadata for ricky lee jones and finished processing rick astley but when i click either one of them it seems like there isn’t any info on them or images

is it waiting for something to add all that?

This is where I need to see the logs and the filename(s) in question. Also, is there embedded metadata? If so, which format, which writing program wrote it, and which authoritative source was used ?

i turned off embeded metadata
they’re mostly flac created by ripping albums using EAC and tagged with foobar2000, tags mostly come from musicbrainz.
