Scan issue on Plex Media Server Ubuntu

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: 3.77.4

Dears,

I am experiencing issue for multiple days where it seems my server is not properly scanning my folders.

It was well working before but I don’t know why it is not now.

Can someone help me on this?

Regards,
Simon

I’m adding logs retrieved from server and from debug in attachments.

your logs show no errors. Please detail what you mean by days scanning?
There have been problems scanning for french-only titles.

Hello Chuck,

When I try to scan my serie folder, it seems it is trying to find new files but it is taking a really long time and nothing new is showing at the end. Indeed all my libraries are loading French content.

This is not happening for my other libraries.

Simon

Hello Chuck,

I am adding more logs if it can helps.

Mine is having issues scanning as well.
I have looked and found that it does not list or show agents anymore. I also cannot get to the server settings… it just states “server settings are unavailable” even when going to the local IP. I have read about disabling IPV6 but I cannot get into the settings to do that. Is there a file I can edit?
Also in the plex media scanner.log file I get this on the files recently added:
Mar 14, 2019 07:43:06.535 [0x7f7e81e22700] DEBUG - HTTP 404 response from GET http://127.0.0.1:32400/system/agents/update?mediaType=1&force=1&guid=local%3A%2F%2F7873&id=7873

I’m running into the same issue. Agents aren’t pulling data, all server settings showing as unavailable, and the agent/language on manual matches show as “Loading…”. I can confirm that my IPv6 was disabled prior to the issue. Best I can figure, it began when I upgraded to PlexMediaServer-1.15.1.780-a27ffa5be-FreeBSD-amd64.tar.bz2

I am afraid I can’t help you with BSD. Please create a thread and tag it as server-FreeBSD

Please get me the Linux - SERVER logs. The logs above are Windows logs.

The only thing I do with Windows is wash them

  1. Recreate
  2. Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
  3. Attach ZIP file

(these 3 steps should be automatic when having problems. Providing logs with the question allows me to read the logs and reply efficiently)

That would be great ChuckPA but we cannot even get to that troubleshooting link in settings. See attached:

I expierence the same problem on my plex server for some days.
Specific libs cannot be scanned, others can (see Partial search when changes detected stopped working - for movies only).
What I found out is that when I move media it also does not get deleted like here (Unavailable media not removed when emptying trash).

What I tried:

  • reading the logs (nothing suspicious found)
  • deleted the cache
  • repaired the database with the corrupted article
  • replace the database with an older version (three days ago)

I could also try to use an older backup of the database but I have the feeling the problem came in with the last update…
For me only music librarys (but not all ??!) are affected. That’s why it took sometime for me to notice the problem.

I am having this issue too but it’s all my libraries.

Hello Everyone,

I’ve solved issue on my own.

When checking on the folder I was a backup of my DB in the folder.

I guess the scan whas checking on the backup and looping in it that’s the reason it was not working anymore.

I hope it can helps if someone have the same issue.

I just removed the backup and it works fine now.

@Simon_Jen glad you found the problem but I guess we are having a different one. I don’t have anything but media files in that mount and it doesn’t work. My friend also has the same setup and his is doing the same thing. A reinstall helped briefly for him but after a couple days it went back to him unable to access settings and his files not scanning.

This one works, thanks to @Simon_Jen :

  1. Go to /Plug-in Support/Databases/ Folder
  2. Stop Plex
  3. Delete all files with the pattern: com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-201x-xx-xx-tmp
  4. Start Plex again and try scanning

Edit:
I thought it was working but actually it only worked once. So my libraries were updated to the current state but the scanner hangs again in scanning one library (only the music libararys), although with some manual “retriggering” updating is now possible manually.

DEBUG log files please?

The linux default for the number of directories watched is 8192.
If music directories are involved, or many movies, this is easy filled and the default table size increased.

This is most easily confirmed by examining the logs.

“Permission denied” when attempting to add to iNotify (watch)

Hello,

Issue is happening again.

You’ll find attached logs.

Thank you for that but those are the Web logs.
I need the Server logs.

Would you please try again?

Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs

It will give you a ZIP file approximately 3MB in size.

Please attach that file here.

Thanks

Hello,

Sorry, you’ll find attached server logs.

Simon

You will need to either mkvtoolnix or HandBrake (with high enough bitrate to avoid quality loss) to rewrite the missing header / information.

I recommend mkvtoolnix. It does not re-encode where handbrake is a full re-encode and quality is always lost.
