The last update (31. Dec 2017 - 1.11.9.4666) did not honour the setting to not start Plex automatically.
Since I have installed Plex as a service I was a bit confused why I suddenly had all media added twice.
Not a major bug but because it is unexpected it confused me a bit and I initially thought something was wrong with the update itself.
Thanks for the reply. I have been updating Plex in the same way since ca. 0.9.12.0.xx in 2015 and I don’t remember it ever enabling the auto start option that’s why I assumed it is something in Plex that has changed.
I did exactly follow the method described in the link too, also I can’t remember exactly which method I used to I install the service:
_To update Plex Media Server:
Stop the plex using the service task bar application
Run the plex installer to do the upgrade as usual.
When the installer is complete, start Plex using the service task bar application._
I can also confirm Plex will enable the “Auto Start” with every update, When I was running PMS on Windows I was also running it as a service (unsupported) by Plex for some god knows reason and it would always reenable it. Support for "Run-as-a-Service as been asked for years by many of us but falls on deaf ears.

Then you probably had an anti virus software which prevented it from getting added as an autostart.
Since I am using Plex, it always re-inserted itself into the autostart upon running the installation.
You were right, Plex does turn it on. I have now realised that I used the msconfig tool (years ago) to disable the Plex Startup entry. So, I assume this has overriden the Plex entry until this latest update, which made a new startup entry. I have now disabled it again, let’s see if this will work again and keep Plex off for the next few years
