@techieanalyst I’ll run it up the chain, however it would involve negotiating a deal with dolby and then we’d have to add support on our end. I don’t see it getting approved for the small number of users who might be willing to pay for their own license.
@hotzigetty can you please send me logs which capture the failed transcode?
Hi,
Did a test and downloaded logs, can I pm?
This was to android app, the error I get shown on the app is this.
You guys would sell the license and add money to it, when you said $2k, Id pay $2k for a complete solution that requires no extra work. People think small number but anyone really serious would, I have friends with actual imax movie theaters in their houses using my plex server and really, they love plex, if I said hey I can do this, they’d literally drive over and give me the money.
I’m not able to PM you the log files as I don’t see a way to send you a private message.
I checked a little bit further and noticed that for the movie I had trouble with, 2 versions of the movie were available in plex: one UHD, one for streaming around 10Mbps.
(Plex always chooses this version even on LAN but that’s another story).
The issue is only happening with this optimized version so it might be a problem with the way the source file is encoded. I don’t have any artefact using the older transcoder thought. If you want to investigate, I have a log zip ready to be sent privately.
Following up on this thread as well. @Atomatth FYI… installed plexmediaserver-1.43.0.10346-fc911a729 and it does not fix the transcoding issues with my 5070 nvidia card which I reported previously so I’ve reverted back to the public build.
I just installed the last beta version (1.43.0.10346-fc911a729) but the problem with live TV is still here.
I can’t watch nor record anything, and if I try it car can’t watch any movie until I restart PMS…
I think you know the drill. Can you enable debug logging, reproduce the issue, download your PMS logs, and share them here or to me. Please ![]()
I have upgraded to the latest beta and continue to get the same error when watching live TV. It’s impossible to watch as it regularly stops with the error:
ERROR - [Req#439c5/Transcode] Streaming Resource: Cannot make a decision because either the file is unplayable or the client provided bad data.
I enabled verbose logging:
Sorry, here is my PMS logs
Plex Media Server Logs_2025-11-22_11-45-36.zip (1.2 MB)
And 4 screenshots :
- After the first try of Live TV
- After the second try with the “4294967279 error code
- After thatn Plex thinks that I watch Live TV but in fact PMS is crashed
- If I launch Plex client on my PC after that, my PMS server is unreachable, I need to restart PMS
Thanks ! ![]()
Actually solved my issue by disabling:
Enable HEVC video Encoding (experimental) Never HEVC Sources Only Always
Enable transcoding using the HEVC codec if it is supported by the client.
Seems to have solved all the issues, maybe I should set to HEVC sources only and retest as I think it did all but always had good video cards so never noticed performance issues.
just my 5 cents. i cannot watch a single movie with latest beta. always transcoder error. i rolled back to currrent stable version. so its related basicly to all transcode related actions.
Have you reported this before? Have you shared server logs yet?
i didnt saw any reason for it. just was running into the problem and i saw that everybody else has the same problem
There are many many different hardware and OS configurations, not everyone will have the same issue.
Here is a helpful support article on how to report issues: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/
i already downloaded the current stored logs. if its helpfull. host system is based on opensuse 15.6
Plex Media Server Logs_2025-11-25_13-28-07.zip (1.5 MB)
symptom is that the plex client (in my case its sony ps5). just shows transcoder crashed messages.
Thanks!
I did notice that debug logging is not enabled on your server (logs are therefor not very useful for troubleshooting).
I however see some log files that are generating errors in the transcoder, I’ll ask Chris, our transcoder engineer, to take a look next week and get in touch with you if he needs more info.
yeah i could enable it once my girlfriend (or lets say common user) left the house, because it breaks everyhing
Enabling debug logging can be done at any time, it doesn’t need a restart or change any observerable behaviour to the apps.
sure but it requires to install a broken version. i can do it right now. gimme one hour for testing
