Latest plex is not in the ports (1.13.9.5456)

I’d like to install 1.13.9.5456 but the ports are still at 1.13.8.5395. Any ETA for the ports update?

Do you have instructions on how to install manually (I can download from the admin page)

Thanks

It usually take the port maintainer a little bit to do whatever voodoo he does… Generally he doesn’t take to long when there are FreeBSD fixes are involved… I would guess sometime in the next week you should see it updated in the ports tree…

As far as installing manually, I have no idea… I have never tried to install it manually…

Finally we came to the moment, when plexpass port has older version than normal plex…

The port website shows that 1.13.9.5456 is there:
plexmediaserver-1.13.9.5456

Plex Media Server component
Description : Changes
Maintained by: feld@FreeBSD.org
Requires: compat10x-i386-10.4.1004000.20181014, compat9x-i386-9.3.903000.20170608

but a pkg upgrade does not find it:
root@server:~ # pkg search plexmedia
plexmediaserver-1.13.8.5395 Plex Media Server component <- this one is still showing the previous version
plexmediaserver-plexpass-1.13.9.5439 Plex Media Server component <- this one is good

I checked the repository (http://pkg.freebsd.org/FreeBSD:12:amd64/latest/All/) and it shows the same as pkg

I didn’t have a problem getting it installed… However, I don’t use pkg, I use portmaster to track and upgrade my installed ports… Please don’t upgrade yours with portmaster as you should not mix the two from what I understand… I believe it takes a little longer for the FreeBSD package servers to create the packages after they are in the ports tree…

It’s finally there - it sucks that it takes 10 days after the release announcement. Hopefully it solves some of the tuning issues with live TV.

This is something that must be raised with the the FreeBSD maintainer, but keep in mind that this things take time, and he actually didn’t take that much to update the port… but freebsd then takes a bit more to build all packages so you get it via “pkgng” (assuming you’re using the lastest repo)

There’s a couple posts here in the forums on how to update the port manually (so it grabs the latest tarball at plex.tv), for those that can’t wait it might be a good idea to look into that.
