Latest Update Not Saving Hardware Transcoding Device

@BIFFTAZ

Questions:

  1. Your column width is shortening HardwareDevicePath ?
  2. “Auto” has value ending with “222” ?
  3. After selecting the GPU, it is now “21a” ?
  4. Restarted and it is still “21a” ?
  5. What’s device “21f” ?

Which is “Auto” , “iGPU”, and “Nvidia” please ?

  1. Yes its HardwareDevicePath, Just cut off because the column is shortened.
  2. Yes. After restarting the system, It automatically went back to auto, & thats the key present at that time.
  3. Yes. Changing Hardware Transcoding Device from Auto to RTX 3050, Thats the key present right after.
  4. Yes. Even though the key is the same as the key I got after changing Hardware Transcoding Device from Auto to RTX 3050, Hardware Transcoding Device had actually reset back to Auto (Because the system had been restarted, As request in your previous post step 5.).
  5. Thats the RTX 3050. After I finished following your steps in your previous post, I had to re-enable the RTX 3050 because it had reset, But noticed I got a new key again…

In Windows Device Manager, if you view the RTX 3050’s properties there should be a property named “Device instance path.” Does its value change between reboots? Or is it static?

@BIFFTAZ

If you restart again and examine the key, does the value change after every restart ?

No the key stays the same, Even though Hardware Transcoding Device resets back to Auto.

Every time I change Plex Hardware Transcoding Device from Auto to RTX 3050, A brand new key is listed (Changes every time). Then after the next restart & Hardware Transcoding Device resets to Auto, It uses the same key listed last until I change Hardware Transcoding Device from Auto to the RTX 3050.

does this build fix it for you?

Yeah its working now with that build. Restarted the system a few times to make sure, & doesn’t reset back to Auto. RTX 3050 stays selected after every restart!!! Awesome!!!

Thanks @chris_decker08 !!!

Worked for me too.

@chris_decker08 is this fix going to be added the public or beta builds? Had a notification for a beta update & updated, But noticed that that transcoding device still reverts back to auto.

the fix will be included in 1.41.8

After rebooting my system this morning, I can confirm that PMS v1.41.8.9834 has fixed this issue.
