Latest version of Plex says that i dont have any subtitles for the movie (but i do have two subtitle according to the file explorer) - Screenshot inside

So i just noticed that many of my movies that have subtitles are displayed in plex as they do not have any subtitles.

As you can see, plex says that i dont have any subtitles for this movie (and many others), but when i check the file explorer, there are already TWO subtitles (Swedish and English SRT).
Does anyone know whats going on? I never had any problems with subtitles before (using subzero). The subtitles are in the correct folder.

Movie file name and subtitles file names?

This is just an example, there are many others like this: https://i.imgur.com/378lDCE.png

Switch options in File Explore so show extensions, and you might notice your sub has a hidden unwanted extension

But i dont see any unwanted extension on the sub

Is the file storage added per UNC path to the library?
Which server version?
Is the movie “matched”?

I found out what causing this. Its the new plex scanner that isnt compatible with subzero. I had to go back to plex scanner (legacy) to make all subs work again.

That doesn’t make sense to me.
SubZero is for acquiring subtitles which are not present, yet.
However, you appear to have already a srt subtitle. So you only need to make Plex look for it.

Those screenshots don’t make sense.
First, we get to see a screenshot where the filenames are :
2067.2020.1080p.WEBRip.x265-RARBG.en.srt
2067.2020.1080p.WEBRip.x265-RARBG

Logical conclusion : File Explorer is hiding the extensions…right?
Then , with extensions shown, you give us :
2067.2020.1080p.WEBRip.x265-RARBG.en.srt
2067.2020.1080p.WEBRip.x265-RARBG.mp4
On top of that, Explorer now shows the file Type as SRT-fil , very unusual indeed.

I’d like to see the output of ls in powershell of that folder…
Or, copy the entire name from the mp4 to the srt , and change the extension ofcourse.

This might be due to the selected language of the Windows UI.

Reverting back to the old plex scanner (legacy) solved all the problem with subtitles: https://i.imgur.com/QDtat35.png

I had to re-scan the drive after the change tho, but it was worth it.

I already reported this problem before but it wasn’t fixed yet. Plex generate hashes of the files before the copy to the library is complete.

Solution: click on the three dots > analyze
Then refresh metadata

Yeah i refreshed the metadata twice (and also analys) but it didnt do the job for my. So only option i have is to switch back to old agent

You are using an outdated server software version.
I asked above, because there were just several fixes for external subtitles in server 1.20.4
(and another, minor one will be in 1.20.5) which all deal with external subtitles in conjunction with the new Plex Movie agent.

I am using the following version: Version 1.20.1.3252
Im pretty sure its the latest one available for download via plex settings.

1.20.3.3437 is the latest public one.

1.20.4.3517 is the latest beta one.

which one shows as available depends on the update channel selected in your servers general settings

The only reason I can think of if you have an older if something like running it on a Nvidia shield or NAS that do not have the updates in their stores but you have this topic tagged with Windows as the server OS.

Roger that, this is the version that i have on my windows 10 server, and it seems to be the latest one: https://i.imgur.com/dOKCIeG.png

Anyhow, the problem with subzero subtitles was solved when i went back to the old plex agent :)=
