Sometimes you have multiple subtitles marked with the same language because one is the full subtitle and the other one is only for signs and songs. I want to filter out or give a low priority to “signs and songs” subtitles since it’s always the one picked by Plex and I always need the full translation. Would be even better if I could override this setting on specific series or categories.
Recently I had to change the subtitle for every episode of the show because it picks the first English subtitle, and that is the one with the title “signs and songs”. Animes with multiple audio tracks are usually formatted like this.
AFAIK, these are called “forced” subtitles and there are flags in MKC containers to mark them as such. Sidecar subtitles can also be marked as “forced”. https://support.plex.tv/articles/200471133-adding-local-subtitles-to-your-media/
Plex will handle forced subs differently.

The embedded subtitle is not forced, I’ve configured my account to prioritize Japanese audio and English subtitles. It just happens that “signs and songs” is the first English subtitle in the container. Unfortunately many videos with dual audio (English - Japanese) is set this way, the first audio is English and the first subtitle is for signs and songs only. Since there’s only one Japanese audio, it it always selected correctly, but when you have more than one English subtitle it gets problematic.
