Not to show my age, but my first video game system was Pong. Growing up I have had every major video game console (Pong, Commodore 64, Texas Instruments TI-99, Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Original Playstation, N64, Nintendo Cube, Playstation 2 and 3, Wii, WiiU, Switch…and that is not counting the line of handhelds we have owned over the last 30 years either) So I think this Retro Plex Arcarde is a GREAT idea that I would gladly welcome it and pay the $3 for without any thought about it.
But the implementation needs to meet the expectation. At the most basic not be limited to only Windows and Mac OS. I would dare say there is a huge (maybe even majority?) of users that have spent years building their Plex servers on Linux machines, NAS based servers (WD My Cloud PR100 / Synology / etc…) and should be able to participate with the Plex Arcade option.
Plus reading through the threads there is a lot of technical and manual setup and tweaking to get it to work. I am tech savvy by my profession so I could slog through and do it if needed, but I would assume that whole process could be all but automated with a few inputs from the user.
So, If you are like me. You love the idea of Plex Arcade…and want to start subscribing to Plex Arcade… but you CANNOT become a Plex Arcade customer because your Plex is built on something other than a Windows or Mac computer, then throw a post in below so you will be notified and see the updates when (and hopefully not if) they become available for us!
Plex…please feel free to share your plans with supporting Linux / NAS servers / etc… for Plex Arcade too.
