Hello,
I have recently purchased an LG BP620 Blu-ray player. I was initially using the supplied Nero Home Media Essentials app, but thought I’d try a few other apps. Serviio being one, and Plex being the other. The two former apps were seen by the player and more importantly the media was displayed and playable. The same is not true for using it with Plex. The player will see the Plex server on my iMac, I can drill down to the media files, but when I try to play any of the files (I’ve tried various ones) the player states “Cannot play this file”. If I bring up the info for the files it lists the size as 0.000MByte, so there is some sense as to why it gives an error.
However, what I want to know is, why isn’t it detecting the size of the file? Is there some config in Plex I’m missing? The files have not changed location (external USB disk, HFS+ Journal formatted) or format, and as mentioned Nero and Serviio had no problem with the player being able to play the files.
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks to this thread: http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/54703-panasonic-vt30-and-avi-files-size-attribute-required/
I think I know what is happening. Plex isn’t sending the “size” parameter / option, and so the media is reported as zero in size and the player won’t play it. Serviio does send size and that explains why it does work there.
Has this been resolved? Also, will we ever be able to play .MKV files from Plex server to the LG BP620? Maybe LG should make a PLEX app (like Netflix) and not depend on "Movies" and try to view old content (avi or mp4)
Bump.. I would like it working on my BP620 also.. still cannot play mkvs.
