LG C9 not playing sound with some content

Not sure what you mean…

During playback, check the Plex Dashboard via Plex Web. It will show if PMS is transcoding the audio.

https://app.plex.tv/desktop --> Activity --> Dashboard.

Click on the gold if needed to show detailed view.

I would suggest going through your tv settings with a fine tooth comb looking for anything that might affect or control audio.

It seems apparent that the tv is only passing 3.1 for some cases.

Plex is reporting DTS 5.1 direst play and receiver concurs. My ears do not

I have gone through every setting. Dolby encoding works fine, DTS does not. I’m at a loss here…getting very frustrated that I can’t get this to work.

Check the Listening Mode settings on your receiver.

There should be one called “Direct.” This will turn off any audio alterations by the receiver.

See the Owners Manual (linked in a post above).

Already set to direct. First thing I did :frowning:

Just noticed that the sub is not firing either. The center and sides are blending during the front tests, but when the back right is supposed to be the front right is (alone, no blending).

Clearly something is not right. I had a home audio expert here to add the rear speakers and a bunch of wiring and hooked everything thing up. I can’t imagine he messed something up but…not sure where to look at this point

I’d double check the wiring, just to be sure. The blending is strange.

FYI, here’s the settings on my LG B7 & Plex app.

Onkyo have Zones, make sure the fitter has not added the rears to Zone 2 same with Sub.

With your Front speakers, you can often select Bass as Both Sub and Fronts.

Obvious in speaker set up you have 5.1 selected

􏰃1⁄4DTS

Mode suitable for playing sources recorded in DTS.
● This listening mode can be selected only if your Blu-ray Disc/DVD player is digitally connected to the unit or the

player’s output setting is bitstream.

I’ve recently moved so it took a while to dig through boxes, but I found my Roku Premier 4K Ultra HD unit and plugged it in. Worked like a champ…kinda. Both DTS-HD and TrueHD hit my AVR as basic surround sound, but all of the speakers worked except the sub. Nothing. I think it’s jacked up somehow given that it never showed up on the Onkyo front display.

I can only think that ARC must be the underlying issue here. Now if I can just figure out why my SW is not working. 15 years old, it may have just died but I don’t believe in coincidences

Take Plex out of the equation.

Throw the dts sample file on a USB stick and plug it into the back of the TV.

Use LG’s Photo & Video app to play it.

Sends dts 5.1 to my Denon & channels map correctly when I try it.

Will give that a try. SW is working again. Don’t ask me what I did…jiggled enough wires and switches I guess

Same issue as before…not a plex issue.

Also, seems the sub has to be unplugged and plugged back in to work. May be time for a new one :frowning:
