Hi, I just can’t seem to get dts to play, my TV LG SK8100 is connected to my Yamaha receiver both ends of Hdmi are connected to respective ARC hdmi inputs. I’ve got Dolby sound tracks working in 5.1 and Dolby HD sound will be downsampled to regular Dolby digital but just cannot get Dts to work, I just get stereo sound.
I’ve noticed by going to the Plex settings in TV and unchecking DTS as a sound format I’m then able to play those DTS files but in Dolby digital!?
This seems to have been a problem forever, well over 2 years, I have just disabled dts in the plex options in the app on my LG tv (55ub850) which I assume forces it to be transcoded into another format. I have a slightly older bose v35 lifestyle which was before arc was around but I have an optical cable running from the tv to the Bose system. If I play plex through the app on the Xbox 1 which is connected via hdmi to the tv it works with dts sound. I don’t expect there will be a proper solution other than using a Roku or another device to run plex on. The problem has been there for at least a couple of years. I will check later if it’s in 5.1 or just stereo but I have always assumed it was in 5.1 but due to the Bose system having no display in unit (only on the remote) I have never really noticed.
