Hello Everyone,
I’m having a strange issue with plex this days.
My new LG TV with PLEX installed, connects to my server remotely (even if in the same network).
My other Plex Player (on a projector), works fine and it’s connected internally.
Both devices are connected through wifi - so same ip scope.
Also - sometimes it connects indirectly - very strange behaviour, and noticed only on the new LG TV.
With all my other devices (PC, Smartphone, MiBox, Projector) is working just fine.
Does someone know what’s happening and how to fix it?
Thanks a lot.
Same thing, noticed it recently, like it is fully ignoring the custom server URL containing LAN address. And there is also no way to set up the IP/name of the server inside the TV clients, it only relies on its own “smart” way to determine how to connect to the server. Android TVs also turn on transcoding from time to time thinking they are not in the same LAN with the server.
In settings of Plex client for WebOS, there is a Manual Server setting, add your Server LAN IP address. It is also a good idea to Make a Static Lease/ reserve the server and TV LAN IP in your Router/Gateway.
I had a similar issue with my LG TV, though I was connecting to a friends library. Seems an update of the Plex app on WebOS had changed the settings to allow insecure connections only from the LAN. I changed this to all, now I can re-connect to my friends library as he doesn’t seem to have his setup for SSL.
