I have Plex running on Unraid and have no issues on all other players, Shield, Android phones iPhone Rokus. I have multiple users in my home and remote wth no issues.
I have a new LG TV in my home hard wired and Plex works fine accept for browsing the Movies Library. I have one Movies Library for concert videos and that works fine as well as my TV shows.
When I try to scroll through my movies library (1600+ movies) sorted by recently added it gets slower each row I move down until it crashes and reboots Plex.
I have tried changing logging to info only , changed reduce motion to on . Tried uninstalling Plax and used the LG setting for optimize memory then reinstalled still no luck.
None of my other devices have any issues. I have been using Plex for 12 years and have never had it so unusable on a device but it only seams like the one library , any thoughts on what I need to do? Do I need to refresh the meta data on the server? I(t’s been so long since I set it up I’m not sure if any of the agents I have set or messing up Movie meta data?
Is it the size of my Movie library
[. Movies] Movie 1617
[.TV Shows] Show 258
[Music Concert Videos] Movie 26
I have decided to give Jellyfin a try , installed the server alongside Plex and it is much faster browsing on the LG TV . I am not sure if this is because it breaks the list into pages of 100 movies to scroll. I have not yet tried to change from the default of 100 page limit but read some comments that it slows browsing down. Maybe this is a solution for Plex developers to look at for WebOS to break the movies being loaded on a page?

I’ve been using plex on a few LGs and it’s been fine, but my newest TV has the issue you describe.
It doesn’t take much, scrolling through any of the libraries will cause it to get gradually slower until you’re waiting 30+ seconds for button presses to register.
I’m wondering if it’s related to the model of TV, I have an older A2 LG and that was working fine, I could scroll through an entire library with 200+ shows with no issue. This B4 which should have a newer processor (although same crappy 2gb ram) gets unusable after scrolling down 10-15 lines.
Just adding, I’ve set logging from the default debug to info, and reduced menu animations, but it hasn’t made any difference.
I notice it gets slower to load the images as well, could.it be a cache issue?
Can also confirm that Jellyfin works fine and I can scroll through all libraries without it slowing down.
I agree the slow interface doesn’t happen on any other apps I use, it is limited to Plex. It’s also more of an impact in the movies library TV shows are more responsive and I think it is because of the. number of items loaded at a time. The total number of items in TV loaded at once because of the show, season, episode selections to get to an episode vs all movie files loading into one scrolling list
This is happening to me too. LG B4
Any update on this? Are there any logs I can supply that might help with troubleshooting?
Knock knock anyone home?
Adding a comment to make sure these threads stay at the top and don’t close after no comments for three months. It is shameful that we can’t get any updates from Plex.
My TV had an update for WebOS today to WebOS 25 / 10.2.1-5202 and plex is now working much better. I can scroll through my movie collection without it locking up. I may have to apologize to the Plex team as this was solved with an OS update not a Plex one.
