libcurl

In browsing the advancedsettings.xml file, I noticed Plex uses libcurl.

I had a major problem at the beginning getting Plex to import my

movie thumbs (via .nfo files) because it only seemed to accept http protocol.

My thumbs are all local.

I tried:

file://

ftp://

smb://

none of these worked.

I had to resort to installing an http server on my local machine (where the thumbs are)

just to get them to import.

My question is, if Plex is already using libcurl, why doesn’t it automatically support

any protocol libcurl supports (which would be all the above and more)?

Would it be more appropriate to ask this question in the XBMC forums?

It would sure be nice if a dev could look into this...

I want to be able to transport some library file to my mom's machine
and she has no Internet access. If the above worked, I could put
the files on a USB drive and load the thumbs without having to
set up an http server on her machine. The thumb would simply
be in the directory along with the .nfo file...

Does using the plain path of the file work, like “/Volumes/Big Mac/file.png” ?

No, it does not. I had tried that as well but forgot to list it...

Thanks for the reply!

Any ideas?
