Libraries are gone after latest update install

Server Version#: 1.23.2.4584
Player Version#: Plex web 4.57.4

Hello Everyone,

I just installed the recent 5/25 update and upon reboot I no longer have access to any of my libraries. I am hoping that someone can guide me in restoring my setup. When I first launched Plex after the reboot it looked like I was setting up my server for the first time. It’s been a long time since I did that, but that is at least what it appeared to be.

I checked all the settings and it cleared my pre-rolls along with my cache location. I do not have my Plex Media Server folder in the default location, I moved it a couple years ago now, but I do not see in the settings were I can check where it is pointing to.

All of my libraries are mapped correctly, I checked each one, but for some reason as you can see in the image they are all showing an error.

I tried researching this and 1 person who had a similar issue a year ago ran a repair which I tried and after reboot I still am showing this issue.

Which version did you update from?

For security reasons the you need to edit the advanced settings file directly.

Hello BigWheel,

Thank you for your reply, I was on the latest update before I updated to this one. 1.23.1.4528

Which advanced settings are you speaking of sir?

Okay now it does appear that Plex “setup” a new server with the same name as my old one. Is there anyway I can revert back to that one? Will the few users I share my library with have the option to switch to the “new” one if I cannot revert back or will I have to reinvite them?

If you are on windows then it is in the registry. Info on how to edit in the link above.

Did you check that your Plex Server folder is still where you moved it? Sounds like it just created a new folder in the default location.

Yes sir, the folder is still in the original location and it appears that the “2nd” copy of my server is working normally like it should. The only issue I have with this is that even though it shows my few users I am sharing with, they do not see nor have the ability to switch over to the copy. Is there anyway to fix that other than sending out a new invite?

Edit the value for LocalAppDataPath with the path to where you moved the folder. Then restart your server.

I checked my registry entries and for LocalAppDataPath it is showing the correct path to my Plex Media Server folder.

It appears that the only thing that changed was it created a second server with the same name. All my meta data is there and working as it should be and I am okay with that. I just would like to know sir if it is possible to revert back to my original server or what is the easiest way to restore access to my family members?

I’m not clear of this new server has all your libraries and such.

If you are already friends with them and they show up in users and sharing then just click on their block and edit the shares there.

Thank you BigWheel, that was one thing I did not do was to click on a user to see that they had 0 libraries shared. Looks like the biggest issue is that anyone who setup their home screen with certain libraries will have to do it once again.

All my years of using Plex and this is the very first time I have ran into an issue after an update. That is a track record that not many companies can compete against. Thank you for your time and help sir! I hope you have a great day / night.
