Server Version#: Version 1.23.2.4625
Hi…Just downloaded the latest version and now getting this message…
“Robert-PC is currently unavailable”
Went through FAQ’s and trouble shooting steps but NO joy…
Using Firefox so tried Microsoft EDGE to check if browser issue…again no joy…
Uninstalled latest Version of Plex and reinstalled OLDER Version…again no joy…
Windows hasn’t done an update recently so ruled that out…
So frustrating…was working before PLEX update…
Somebody please tell me its something obvious I am overlooking…
Thanks for you help…Robert
OOpps…forgot to mention…PLEX shows me logged in to my account and Remote access showing as on and working…
OK…everything is back to normal…exited Plex account on every device…Stopped Plex server on my PC…restarted Plex server…logged in…it works…go figure…not a clue as to why…hopefully this will help somebody else who runs into a similar issue…
I have the exact same issue. Plex media server is unavailable since i updated to latest version today (1.23…2.4625)
tried loging out, tried claiming, tried uninstalling and installing a rollback…
Ohhh, how i regret having made that upgrade that was bringing me nothing anyway…
Hi…forgot one thing…before I started did the steps above…I rebooted my PC…soon as it reloaded did the above steps
double oops…I also downloaded the Plex 64 bit app for the PC…using the web app still gave errors so tried the App it worked…
So after downloading the Windows app, i logged in the app and i found out that all my libraries were moved from the server i had created, which is named Media_Server, and is no longer available, to a server that has the name of my PC.
This is problematic since all my other client apps and all the friends i share the libraries with are based on my original server.
I don<t know how to have my libraries and server back to how it was.
Same issue here, i cannot seem to get back into my library after upgrading.
Hi…try this…go into settings and under MANAGE sub heading select libraries…move you mouse over the media type ie. Music/Edit Libraries/Add Folder/Browse for media folder/then save…Plex will scan folders and add the media.
Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion, i went to the manage and libraries and i see my libraries. The problem is that they all show under the wrong name… it’s crazy! Everything was working perfectly before i made the upgrade (upgrade that was pushed by Plex!)
I know…upgrades are wonderful…“New and Improved Problems” and “Its not a bug Its Feature”…LOL
OH…when you say the “Wrong Name” do you mean the Server name…???..If so you can customize this…got to "settings/Settings subheading/General…Click on advances…you will see the option to set “Friendly Name”…might do the trick for you…
So, i did do that at one point, but when i did that, I had two servers with the same name, one unavailable and one available, but everything that is linked to my server was still linked to the unavailable server…
Not sure about your situation…are you saying that you still cannot access your files…or that you have an extra server listing that you want to remove…ie. the one not available…if the latter…that means you will have to make changes through your “router/network”…you can change the network name assigned to your PC…doing so should clear both away (never know with Plex)…if so then you can go back into network setting for Plex and change the “Friendly name” to what you want…and may have to rebuild your library in “Edit Library”…I advise caution…If you can use your current Libraries as they are…then you might want to live with 2nd server name appearing…otherwise making the changes I suggest may mean a lot of work getting libraries organized again…
Ooopss…one last thing…before going into the network…try the following…make sure EVERY authorized device local and remote are logged out of PLEX…then shut down the server then restart if…login…possible another device is looking at old network setting and Plex is keeping it listed…
Yeah, it’s ok, and i’m glad you got yours to work again.
What i’m saying is that since the update, i have a new server, and all my libraries were moved to the new server. my old server is listed as unavailable. There is more to it than just changing the friendly name since even if i change the name, the other client apps and remote access, shared users are still referred to the unavailable server. And i can’t get Plex to recognize/find the old server anymore.
So it might be that i’m just gonna deal with this new server, reconfigure all my other clients and re-assign the shared libraries, and call it a day and a bad update.
I was kinda hoping to hear something from the Plex team, acknowledging or issuing a patch update, before i’d do all that. Oh well.
Unfortunately tech support in the 21st century is all on line and user forums mostly…I worked in tech support…I am not singling out Plex most tech companies do that now…but some software is complex and can have several updates per month…not per year like in the past…forums are OK…but relying on other users who have other things to do means responses can be slow in coming if at all…
I had this exact same problem after updating–lost connection to my server. After reviewing the comments in this thread, I logged out of all devices and uninstalled Plex on my Windows computer. I noticed when I went to uninstall, Plex showed up twice in the list of installed programs; I uninstalled both. I reinstalled Plex and it still wasn’t connecting but I noticed my server–Gort–was showing up twice in the left list of items–once at the top of the screen, and once around the middle of the screen. I clicked the Gort at the top of the screen (it now says “Pinned” with an arrow to the left, whatever that means). I logged into my devices, and it gave me two Gorts to choose from, one of which was grayed out. I picked the one indicated as “active” and…my libraries appeared! Did the same when logging in on other devices, and my content appeared on the devices. So I guess I have two servers and have no idea how to get rid of the grayed out server. But I’m thrilled to have Plex working again, and I’m sharing this process in hopes it helps someone else. BTW, when I downloaded Plex, it looks like there’s an update released June 1st, so maybe that has something to do with my success. Best of luck to anyone fighting this problem, and many thanks for the mature, supportive, and rationale discussion in this thread.
GORT…!!!..somebody likes classic SCI-FI…BAD GORT…“Klaatu barada nikto”…LOL
