Check if you have any locked metadata. I had the same problem… Tried EVERYTHING with no success but then I figured that the item must be protected in some way and the only thing was that Title lock icon being yellow. Some items had other fields locked too that needed to be unlocked.
So, Unmatch the item, edit the item and unlock ALL fields. Then you run an update for that library and don’t forget to empty trash if you don’t have that checked in the global settings.
This is how I solved this pita problem. Maybe its not related but try it
I have run into this issue, when I had to move a folder of movies between volumes on my NAS. I copied the folder to the new volume, added that to the Plex library, waited until it had found all of the copies, then deleted the original folder. Now, Plex shows them all as having duplicates, but the first copy as “unavailable”. Emptying the trash does nothing. I can “Get Info” on each movie and delete the first file reference, but it would be a major pain to have to do this for each and every movie.

Yes. Same issue. Any results yet?
Edit the library.
Go to the ‘Add Folders’ tab
Make sure that every path listed there is:
- still existent (no folder name, nor drive letter, nor network file share name has changed)
- accessible to Plex (permissions)
-
not completely empty

Last activity in April but I see no solution. Deleted files are not removed from the library even though the drive is mounted with other media still on it.
Manually deleting files from library is unacceptable. What’s the solution or fix?
